“ECO COMPANY RECEIVES EMA NOMINATION"

Environmental Media Association Announces Nominations for 23th Annual Awards

Teen-hosted educational TV show Eco Company received its second nomination for an Environmental Media Award for the episode “Big Green Bus.” The EMA awards have been given out since 1991 by the Los Angeles-based Environmental Media Association. Eco Company received the nomination in the Children’s TV Category. The other nominees in the category are Nickelodeon’s Nick News With Linda Ellerbee for “What’s the Deal With Fracking?,” and Tree Fu Tom for “Tom’s Big Mess” from Sprout. Eco Company was previously nominated in 2010.

“It’s certainly an honor to be nominated,” commented Bob Anderson, Eco Company Executive Producer and owner of production company Red Willow Films. “It’s pretty rare for a small independent company like ours to be mentioned among nominees from major media entities like Nickelodeon, Fox, Paramount, HBO, ABC & TNT!” Eco Company is entering its fifth season in national syndication.

House of Cards staring Kevin Spacey and Matt Damon’s Promised Land are among the other nominees for the 23rd annual Awards. Modern Family, Real Time With Bill Maher and Shark Tank also will vie for nods in their respective categories.
Promised Land is nominated in the feature film category alongside The Guilt Trip and The East. In the TV categories, Netflix’s House of Cards is cited in the drama category alongside ABC’s Castle and TNT’s Dallas. In the comedy field, ABC’s Modern Family and Last Man Standing will compete with IFC’s Portlandia.

“Our nominees represent unique storytelling and a wide range of genres,” said Debbie Levin, president of the Environmental Media Association. “From the documentarian who spotlights a pressing global issue to a children’s television show that teaches kids the importance of recycling, each of these nominees made a difference in our world.”

This year’s EMA Awards, which “honor film and television personalities, productions, musicians and musical tours that convey environmental messages in the most creative and influential ways,” will be held Oct. 19 at Warner Bros. Studios in Burbank.
